Be Prepared - The Story of Scouting is the Country's first purpose built Scout Museum.

It is situated at Waddercar Scout Camp, near Beacon Fell, in Lancashire.

The building is open on Saturdays from 10.00am to 4.00pm. With prior notice it may be possible to arrange visits by Groups at other days time.

National Scouting Museum - Murray Kentucky

The "High Tech" of Scouting Museums, with ideas all museums could use. Visitors are greeted by Murray the robot. Attractions include frequent story tellings and even a 360 degree panorama cinema! There is also a high and low ropes course outside to entertain the youngsters. The finest collection of original Norman Rockwell paintings for Scouting. However, the historical exhibits are few and the international theme is barely touched on. A fun day for the youngsters, not too much for a serious collector. Open Tuesday through Saturday, March to November.

Lawrence L. Lee Museum - New Hampshire

The Lawrence L. Lee Museum and the Max I. Silber Library hold a fine collection of Scouting memorabilia and books. In a quiet wooded setting, a 2800 sq foot building holds this unique collection. Everything from B.P. items, through stamps, cameras, medals and patches are displayed. Open daily through the Summer and then by arrangement, it is located at Camp Carpenter, 7 miles from Manchester, New Hampshire.

Western Museum of Scouting - Los Angeles CA

Beautiful displays, well set out and nicely mounted would describe this museum. Open by arrangement, it has one of the best displays of B.P. items in the world available to the public. Many British items despite being in the USA (which forms a major part of this collection).

Steamboat Museum - Fannett, Texas

We have been told of a fine museum in Fannett, Texas. Located at the Steamboat Museum. There are many things to see there, but they have a very good collection from the early 1912 to the present.

Musee Francais du Scoutisme - Dourlers, France

Here we see Scouting displayed in an old castle! The museum at Dourlers has many nice items from France, although there is not a great sense of flow round the exhibits, there are many nice pieces.

Very nice museum set in an old Church. This museum uses the building to it's fullest with displays all up the walls, and uniforms and flags way up in the air! Nice display of Baden Powell items, and some interesting badges and uniforms from all over the World.

Scoutingmuseum - Baarn, Netherlands

50 minutes by rail from Amsterdam, the Dutch Scouting Museum in Baarn is well worth a visit. Scouting started in 1910 in the Netherlands, and items right from the start are featured. Items were donated by members of the NVVSO (the Dutch Scout collectors society). Especially featured are items from the two World Jamborees held in the Netherlands - 1937 and 1995.

Where better to locate than a place called Blue Skies! This Museum is in Kaiapoi. There are several uniforms, mounted on mannequins, many badges laid out by Area and District under glass and much more to interest the visitor. The displays are rotated from time to time, so don't expect to see everything the first time you go.

Victorian Scout Heritage Centre - Victoria, Australia

A nice museum set in a Heritage classification building with 6 rooms dedicated to Scouting. Located at South Yarra, Victoria, it concentrates mainly on local Group and Troop Histories. They suggest you leave three hours to view the museum. There are also activities and games, and every Scout attending gets a certificate and a badge.

Hong Kong Scout Gallery - Hong Kong

A display with about 400 sq feet in the Hong Kong Headquarters showing the history of Scouting in Hong Kong. Set aside in a new gallery this museum was officially opened in April 1996.
