Activity Resources
Home Contact Review
There is currently a review of the Home Contact system taking place, which has put together a consultation document that you can find here. We would welcome thoughts and comments on this, from anyone who wishes to do so, by 31st October 2008.
Urban Outdoors
Adult Groups in Adventurous Activities
The Rules for Adult Groups in Adventurous Activities have been designed to make it as easy as possible for groups of adults to take part in adventurous activities within Scouting. The system is based on adults giving informed consent, and allows them to take part in adventurous activities without the restriction of qualifications or authorisations.
National Directory of Waterways
The National Directory of Waterways lists areas of water by County, and defines which class of water they fall into in normal conditions. It also lists training centres for water activities within each County.
Survival Simulator
At the Outdoors Show at the NEC, The Scout Association ran a survival feature including a survival simulation programme. As this proved so popular it is now online here for use by Leaders. It is best viewed in full screen.
You can also download a sheet with the survival scenario on for use with the simulator here.
As with all scenarios such as this, the answers are relatively subjective. The comments contained are based on comments we have received from a number of people with expertise in survival, but it is possible to change the scoring and comments to suit your own situation.
Module 25 - Scout Show Assessors
This is a special word version of the module 25 workbook aimed specifically at Scout Show Assessors. Click here to download a copy.
LONE Events
LONE stands for Locally Orgainised National Event. The Association approves the local organisation of certain National Scout Events. If you are seeking approval to run a LONE event you will need to fill in the application form (downloadable below). Please note that the Committee required to approve LONE events meets quarterly, so please try and submit applications as early as possible to allow time to advertise the event after approval.
If you are looking for details of events being run as LONE events that have already been approved, please see 'What's Happening In Activities...'
