Some aspects of International relate solely to support for the 6 to 25 Programme. A substantial part deals with the relationships the Association has throughout the world. To accomplish such a wide brief, there are a number of ways that support is provided.

Nigel Hailey took over as International Commissioner in April 2008. Nigel lives in Warwickshire and has held various appointments at Group, District and County level. He has been Chairman of the International Panel and was a member of the UK Contingent Management Team for the 20th World Scout Jamboree in Thailand and a Jamboree Core Team member for the 21st World Scout Jamboree.

Working to support the International Commissioner is a small core team of volunteers. The Core Team is currently made up of:

• Craig Turpie - Chairman European Scout Region (Member of The Scout Association)
• Kevin Wallis - County Leader in Avon
• Claire Riley - Group Scout Leader in Cumbria

Supporting and working with the International Commissioner and the International Core Team is a wider group, the International Team, comprising a range of volunteers:

• Northern Ireland Headquarters International Commissioner
• Scottish Headquarters International Adviser
• International Commissioner for Wales
• All those who represent the UK on World and European Committees
• Volunteer administrators of international initiatives and schemes
• The chairs of the national Scout Fellowships/Networks with an international focus
• Leaders of national contingents to major events
• The editor of the Go International pages of Scouting Magazine
• The International Editor of Scoutbase

Add all those listed above to those who have the vital task of supporting the delivery of support at County/Area/Region level

• Regional Adviser International (Scotland),
• County/Area International Advisers,
• County/Area Leaders International

To support the Global Team, there are a number of publications produced by the International Core Team including International Essentials, Assessing Quality and Global Team News.

The International Commissioner and the various volunteer teams are supported by the Activities and International Affairs team which is part of the Programme and Development directorate.

The Activities and International Affairs team is managed by the Head of Activities and International Affairs and is staffed by five Programme and Development Advisers, two Administrators (and on a fixed term basis, UK Contingent staff).
