In the United Kingdom there are a number of International Support Networks that support The Scout Association's International work and these pages aim to provide an introduction to them.
These networks should not be confused with the Scout Network. They use networking to get things done and to share information. They are semi-formal organisations which according to Nancy Foy 'need a spider, not a chairman; a list of members, not a set of bye-laws; groups, not committees; and a phone number (or email address) rather than a building'.
Although these Networks can take many forms, the most popular types of International networks are:
- Country specific
- Networks that support the development or consolidate a relationship with Scouting in a specific country (or region) and - Programme specific
- Networks that support particular threads of the international element of the youth programme.
More information on the International Support Networks can be found in the 'Introduction to Our Networks' Factsheet (FS260021) available from the Information Centre.
